In response to the respiratory illness caused by Coronavirus (COVID-19), we would like to assure the public that we are following recommended guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention and local health authorities. The CDC has advised people to take precautions in light of the coronavirus outbreak and that the best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.
Therefore, effective immediately, the Murphys Cemetery District is putting the following rules into place:
All non-essential in-person services provided by our district, which includes the showing and purchasing of pre-need plots are cancelled.
Burial rights may be selected and purchased after a death. Burial site selection will be limited to no more than four (4) family members/friends being present. Please wear a mask while viewing and selecting a plot.
To protect public health and slow the rate of transmission of COVID-19, gatherings that may involve high risk individuals, such as funeral services involving older family members, should be restricted in size. To allow for safety, all funeral services are to have a maximum of 25 family members in attendance. The funeral gathering must allow social distancing of 6 feet from each person. If the state or local rules also require wearing masks, then it is requested that everyone attending follow that rule.
Murphys Cemetery District board meetings are to be on a “As Needed” basis for as long as the COVID-19 threat continues. Please check the “AGENDA” link on the home page each month to see if a board meeting will be held.
